Building a Website
| Let me begin by telling
you a bit about myself.
I am a programmer that specializes in something
called "Seach
Engine Optimization", which is the art
and science of making a Website rank high for
a desired keyword. I have been contracted to do
this work by dozens of Fortune 1000 companies;
I teach this topic at several computer schools,
and I make my living at it. I consider myself
an expert at online marketing, and I am giving
out these tips for free.
These tips are meant to help independent escorts
market themselves for free, AND discover other
ways of making money online (while you sleep)
that does not involve you compromising yourself
in any way. |
The ideal Website for an escort will:
- Look professional
- Provide an economical means of promotion
- Save "administration" time by filtering good leads
from bad ones
- Thoroughly educate potential and existing clients
about you and your services
- Sell potential clients on your services
- Generate income in new and creative ways
- Be easy to update
- Have a well designed link section for promotion
- Be created to rank highly in search engines
Now, we're going to discuss step by step how to create
a Website. Even if you already have one, we believe
that reviewing the basic principles will prove useful.
Step 1: Register a domain (Website address)
Your Website should have its own unique name, such
as atlanta-kim.com. You need to buy a domain name at
a "registrar", a company that sells domain names. We
suggest
Domain-Maniac.com.
**Important privacy note: Many escorts wish to have
their real identities private. The names and contact
information of the owners of domains are publically
accessible; be sure to either use a fake name (on everything
except the credit card information, which is NOT publically
accessible), or you can hire
us to take care of it for you anonymously.
Step 2: Write Your Content
You don't have to be a Webmaster or programmer to begin
writing the content for your site. If this is the first
Website you've built, you will probably feel rather lost
about where to begin. I suggest looking at the Websites
of other escorts that you like. Begin by:
- Make a list of every page you want on the site.
We suggest including the following:
- Home page
- About
- Gallery
- Donations
- Services and Protocols
- Contact
- Calendar
- Links
- Write the content you want on each of those pages.
Ideally, you will type them onto a text file so that,
if you hire a Webmaster, it will be easy for he or
she to copy and paste the words onto the Webpages
(so they don't have to re-type everything).
Step 3: Take Professional Photos
There is nothing more distressing than a painfully amateur
photo shoot. If you can't hire a professional photographer
because either you can't afford one, or feel uncomfortable
with one, then do you best to take quality photos. Here
are some tips:
- Make the backdrop pleasant. For instance, photos
that have microwave ovens, alarm clocks, remote controls,
and other homely and distracting items in them truly
disturb me. If you're on a low budget, you can simply
have a white bedsheet hanging behind you, so YOU are
the only object in the photo. If you're more adventurous
and artistic, bubble-baths are an easy solution. Tip:
many escort directories have a list of professional
photographers that will make you feel comfortable.
Try Cityvibe
or Eros
Guide for listings of photographers.
- Using a digital camera will allow you to save cost
on film. If you shoot digitally, set your camera to
"72 DPI" and "RGB". You may not know what those settings
mean, but don't worry about that now.
Step 4: Either hire a Webmaster, or build the site
yourself
The danger of building the site yourself, if you have
never done it, is that the site will look amateur. Who
wants to pay a lot of money for an escort who doesn't
appear professional? I believe there are economical
ways of making a site look professional.
If you want to build the site yourself, you may want
to consider a company called "Keyholes".
The offer "do-it-yourself" Websites that require
no programming skills. Also, they offer "members
only" areas, so you can charge a monthly fee to
folks to access a private area of your Website. There
are not many "do it yourself" services that
are adult-friendly.
If you're going to hire a Webmaster, look at their
portfolio of sites. Make sure they have had reputable
customers, and that their sites look good. It's my belief
that for a Website of 10 pages or less, IF you have
the content written about prior, you should spend $500-800
to get it done.
Regarding designers:
- Do not do "trades" -- this is only going to start
a bad situation
- Work with designers who are professional and have
a list of satisfied clients
When you have found a designer and negotiated their
price, write a simple contract. You do not need a lawyer.
Just write something like this:
"This contract is between Lovely Linda and Henry
Fox. Lovely Linda is contracting Henry Fox on June 5,
2004 to build a 12 page Website. Henry will design the
logo, and create the Website from the content and photos
provided by Linda. The work will begin on June 6, 2004,
and is estimated to be completed by July 17, 2004."
Many designers will ask for a deposit on the work.
A 50% deposit to start and 50% upon completion is common.
Understand that when the Website is done, you will
need a "Web hosting" company. This is where
you Website will "live". A qualified Webmaster
understands how to upload your files, and make the site
live when it is ready.
Please note that this is a general overview of the
process. My other articles on Website promotion discuss
things the Webmaster should do while creating the site
that will help the site rank high in search engines.
I encourage you to read these other articles before
you create your Website.
